Mountain Glamorous by Day

We don't know what that means either. But look, your comfort and warmth are most important. Layers are CRUCIAL. Our wedding is the day before October in Montana which can mean one, or two, or even all three of the following in a span of one day:

  1. a gorgeous Indian summer--warm breeze, golden light, incredible sunset over the whole valley, grizzly bears frolicking with trout in a rare truce of peace and love.
  2. cold dark rain--dramatic lightning and thunderstorms rolling across the entire valley from one set of mountain ranges to the other (for which we will have a safe, epic view and seats) (and cocktails)
  3. sideways blizzard (seriously)--in which case everyone cuddles up around the numerous wood burning stoves or the giant roaring fireplace, all located WITHIN the dancehall. Next to the band. And the drinks. And the desserts. We’re just gonna roll the dice, people! So bring warmth--there could be a large swing in temperature after the sun goes down.

The Highland cattle will already be onsite...no need to bring such accessories.

Some tips: Although we are encouraging a little glamour, there are lines that should not be crossed. Stiletto heels would be laughable (this is a rustic, outdoor wedding on a lawn...the bathrooms are literally out-houses!). But t-shirts and jeans would be laughable, too, because we are gonna be lookin’ spiffy. Besides, your ridiculous dance moves will be less noticeable if you look fly. So just put something special on, bring comfy backup shoes, but then throw on a puffy jacket if need be; nobody’s gonna judge you if it gets cold.

Woodland Creatures by Night

Nightfall will bring us the eve of the new moon, and the newest Wolfe will be howling with her mate, and the nocturnal forest will come alive with all the woodland creatures! We invite our guests to bring a festive woodland creature mask (whether handmade or bought) to enjoy in the celebration. Let your creative instinct guide you. ***Children need not bring a mask; they will be making one as an activity on-site.

Which creature are you?

  • Rabbit
  • Deer/Elk/Moose
  • Bear
  • Squirrel/Gopher
  • Badger/Beaver
  • Racoon
  • Fox/Coyote
  • Owl
  • Hawk/Eagle
  • Mouse/Mole
  • Horse (sure, go for it!)
  • So Many More (fish? cougars! mountain goats! beetles?)! Click through the photos for more inspiration.

But again, don't forget to bring WARMTH. It's better to be safe and comfortable than merely cute. But we encourage you to incorporate warmth into your outfit for the best effect. And if this seems confusing or annoying, we'll have a few extra masks for those who didn't get the memo or didn't think they would care to participate but changed their minds. And not wearing a mask is absolutely ok, too.
